~ Maddy's Message ~

Welcome to the weekly part of our blog where our ‘Fox News’ Reporter, Madison, takes on the news of our family each week!  As our first edition, we are still learning and working on our design and layout, so any feedback is appreciated!  We have named this family newsletter ‘MADDY’S MESSAGE’, as she will be the main one reporting and collecting the news from the week!

Here we go!

  • ·         Morgan hurt her big toe while riding her scooter last week and she lost a chunk of her toe. It kept bleeding for a whole week and every time she bumped it, it started all over again. Now it’s much better.
  • ·         Madison’s teacher announced to her class this week that she is pregnant and going to have a baby later this year.
  •       Kaitlyn had her 5th grade chorus concert at school on Monday night, so all four girls missed Girl Scouts. They agreed that their favorite song was the Men In Black performance.
  • ·         For Mother’s Day, we went to The Brickhouse restaurant in Pottstown and it was not good. The waitress was new and slow, they were out of a lot of food, someone tried to steal their utensils, the food came out cold and burnt.  Mommy complained and the manager was really nice.
  • ·         We watched America’s Got Talent this week, but we don’t have any favorite people yet. Mommy thought Howard Stern was a good judge and we all think Howie is funny!
  • ·         Our downstairs bathroom sink was broken and kept filling up with water. It was annoying, but now we got it fixed.
  • ·         Madison had a tick on her head this week and when Mommy pulled it off, it took some skin with it. That was pretty freaky!
  • ·         We printed new chore charts and everyone has a list of chores to do everyday. We put a check mark next to each chore when it’s done. We don’t like doing chores, but we each got something fun on our list.
  • ·         Mommy has poison ivy really bad from mowing the grass. Since she’s allergic it keeps spreading and it’s very itchy.

We have some BIG BIG BIG NEWS, but Mommy will share that soon!!

Funny commercial from Kaitlyn

One of the girls' favorite commercials right now!

My interview with Kaitlyn

Mommy: How old are you?
Kaitlyn: 11 years old, it's funny to say that because I'm used to saying 10 (birthday May 5)

Mommy: What was your favorite gift from your birthday?
Kaitlyn: Probably the Hunger Games Movie book. I'm gonna say the Chamilia bracelet from Daddy too.

Mommy: What grade are you in?
Kaitlyn: 5th

Mommy: Do you like your teacher?
Kaitlyn: Sort of. He's very strict and gives alot of homework and incompletes. I like that he doesn't let the bad kids get away with stuff, he stops them so they don't disrupt the class.

Mommy: What is your favorite color?
Kaitlyn: Blue

Mommy: Do you have a best friend?
Kaitlyn: *sigh* yes, Brianna.

Mommy: What do you do at recess?
Kaitlyn: In all reality, I've been asking people that question at recess, because I don't know what to do at recess. All the girls gave different answers. I don't have a favorite thing to do at recess, it's just random. I guess I usually go to the playground and do whatever.

Mommy: What is your favorite song right now?
Kaitlyn: Probably Taylor Swift 'Eyes Open', it's from the Hunger Games.

Mommy: What is your favorite hobby?
Kaitlyn: I guess reading.

Mommy: What is your favorite class in school?
Kaitlyn: Hmmm… Math. Any Math except elapsed time!

Mommy: What is your typical outfit to wear to school?
Kaitlyn: I don’t really have a typical outfit, so… I guess jeans and a t-shirt or random stuff like skirts and stuff.

Mommy: What is your favorite flavor or ice cream?
Kaitlyn: Moose tracks, it’s awesome, it’s got chunks of Reece’s in it.

Mommy: If you could take a vacation anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Kaitlyn: Probably Ecuador to see Maria. We could visit places and she could show me cool stuff. She would be like a tour guide.

Mommy: If you could do one thing perfectly, what would it be?
Kaitlyn: Write a perfect story, with lots of details, everything makes sense, nothing spelled wrong, having everyone like it in the end.

Mommy: Why are you most excited about this new blog?
Kaitlyn: I’m most excited about this blog because it will be fun for us and people will like it. I’m excited and I want it to turn out good, I want to see what it will turn out like to make my own website.

Blogging with my girls

As I was enjoying a lazy Saturday morning, I decided to flip through my June 2012 issue of Family Circle magazine. On page 114, something caught my eye: an article entitled "Safety Net"... according to the American Psychological Association,
"Blogging may help soothe stress and boost self-esteem... Researchers say blogs are even more effective than written journals for kids because they promote sharing, allow feedback and built interpersonal skills."
My oldest daughter, Kaitlyn, and I have weekly meetings where we talk about things that are bothering her, discuss ways to be happy, read American Girl books about body changes, etc. Plus she and I both love journaling - in fact we keep a "Mommy & Me" journal, which we pass back and forth and write letters to each other. So this magazine article sparked an idea - maybe we could keep a blog together! And hey, instead of just Kaitlyn and I, what if we included her sisters as well! And there began our newest creation - "Sweet Silly Sisters"!!

Between the five of us, we have lots of ideas racing through our heads - but I told the girls we need to start off slow - maybe with some introductions :) Kaitlyn offered to 'interview' her sisters so all of our readers (friends and family of course!) can get an insight into who we are and how we're silly!!
